regis has a christmas album?

to my shock, surprise and a little bit of horror......

tonight as i was watching the lighting of the christmas tree in rockefeller center...there he was....god help us all...regis singing "santa claus is coming to town" and then they proceeded to announce that this was a song off his christmas album......

this is like telling william shatner that he can and should sing...tv show hosts should not be encouraged to produce musical albums,,,it did not work for david hasselhauff (well maybe in germany) and it only sorta works for william shatner (because he doesn't take himself seriously either)...so i can't image how this crossover is going to be a huge success

it is not like he does not have enough money... and the world could probably use one less christmas album, but i am sure there are regis fans every where that will have that at the top of their gift lists....

there truly is something for everyone in this world

2 TVs and a futon

today was a banner day in the world of moving out of my apartment...

not only did i manage to pack the majority of the rest of my things in boxes and get them to the storage unit, but i also found a home for my bed and my dining room table......

it was a sad thought last night as i went to sleep, knowing that this was the last night that i was going to sleep on the first bed i ever bought....about 10 years ago

tonight i am reduced to a few random book shelves, a desk chair, a futon that will be leaving me on thursday and 2 TVS...seems like the beginning of a bizarre stage set

the slow dispersal of my items to various places is very disheartening and revealing at the same time...soon it will all be gone, the red apartment walls will be restored to the landlord required white and i will be trekking my way to the land of sunshine and movie stars.....who would have ever though

white thanksgiving

my first ever white thanksgiving...i woke up after a long night's sleep to a dawn that was snow covered...the cars, the lawn, the trees.... just beautiful.

i spent the morning doing laundry, walking back in forth from my apartment to the laundry room admiring the snow, loving the cool brisk air and being thankful that i got to experience another snow day here in new york before i leave.

man versus tree

in the midst of mid afternoon traffic-people driving here and there trying to pick up family, friends and turkeys there was a brief sigh of wonderment as i caught a and glimpse of a man in a tree....

there on the side of the street was a giant cherry picker machine with a man perched at the very top of his basket stringing individual strands of white lights along each tree branch of the oak trees that lined the street.

i sat back and finally took in the fact that the holiday season is here. It was some how relaxing to sit there and watch him intently deck the trees to bring us some holiday cheer.

as the traffic light changed i passed him by and headed off to the rest of my day with a little bigger smile on my face then i had before i stopped at that light.

tristate film shoot

never thought i could be in so many states in so many days....

in the past week, while i have been neglecting my blog site, i have been travelling.

we started the film shoot in pennslyvania, after leaving my house in upstate ny, i headed to nyc to pick up the art director, then had to do a huge prop pick up in new jersey and then make my way to a little town outside philly called broomall....

shot there for about 4 days in a 400 year old house- a living museum of sorts that let us use everything including the antique rope beds and the fireplaces in the house.......amazing group of people to work with!

then headed from broomall thru new jersey again to do some prop returning on to old bethpage on long island to stay in a slight sleezy hotel that had 24 hours maid service...if you know what i mean!

after some all night sign painting and prepping, we shot in bethpage for a day where it rained for about 6 hours and let me tell you, that film crews are not a breed that come in OUT of the rain...instead we stay in the rain to get it done.....soaking wet at 2am i finally made my way to a swank, new hotel....(the producers apologized and made nice after hearing about the previous evenings lodgings)...in plainview. long island

and last but not least, the next day, we returned to clean up the last location, pack up and again return more props to new jersey, return my art director to nyc and then make the 2 hour trek about to my own warm bed!

a good nights sleep and it is time to start on the next project!

garage sale foder

tomorrow a vast majority of my apartment will be sprawled across my friend's lawn with price tags attached to it..... my life reduced to numbers and my apartment getting closer to empty

hopefully there will be many takers tomorrow and sunday, god knows i am not planning on taking anything back into my apartment....whatever baubles and gems aren't bought will be dragged off the to local thrift store to hopefully find a happy home.

stuff, stuff, stuff....how did i get all this stuff?

roof top applause

in the midst of a meeting in a nice little apartment on W 72nd Street, i heard a boom, a crack, and a few more pops.....

are those fireworks? being that it isn't even close to the 4th of July or New Years for that matter, i tried to figure out what all the celebration was about as i made my way to the 16th floor roof top.

and then it dawned on me as i opened the roof door to see the bright glittering smoke filled skies-this was for all those crazy, courageous, amazingly dedicated athletes that are running in the NYC Marathon tomorrow.

a brilliant display over the trees of central park about 3 blocks away from where i stood...the echos bounced off the city buildings and the glass reflections in the skyscrapers were almost as dazzling as the actual fireworks.

it seemed to last forever and it was great to just stand there in the cool evening and enjoy my second NYC firework display this year. a very good reason to interrupt the meeting that i was in!

as the last hurrah of blasts went into the air and the drifting haze made its way into the atmosphere...there was a new sound that i quickly joined in making...the various rooftops above and below, to the left and right were filled with fellow firework gazers applauding the magic of this yearly event.

a cities way of saying best of luck to all those runners and know that this is only the beginning of the applause that they will hear tomorrow as they make there way through the 5 boroughs.
