random fireworks

there have been several moments in my life that i have happened on a random firework display....meaning that there was no specific holiday, like the 4th or memorial day, that would easily explain my encounters with a sparkling sky...just random moments...

the day i officially moved to a small upstate town in New York, I was delivering a friend to the train station on the other side of the river and as i made my way across the middle of the span, the whole sky to my left was ablaze with color and light.....shimmering off the river below.....my very sarcastic and funny friend remarked..."they must be celebrating that YOU are here"

an evening meeting for a film, at a friend's apartment on the upper west side of manhattan was boomingly interrupted with a bang and crack. as we peered out the window to catch the reflection of the firework as it frizzled across the glass of the building across the street....signaling us to come see more...we ran to the elevators and made it to the top terrace to overlook a central park firework display that would have been worth climbing the 10 flights of stairs!

and just recently, while counting down my register at work in anticipation of heading home....out the store window was a perfect view of a most unexpected firework display....as the noise continued more and more of the employees came to the front to participate in the ever popular "oohhhh and aaahhhh" that happens when one watches each firecracker burst into the dark sky. who would have ever expected to have such a perfect moment of enjoyment while at work!
the next night we were happy to find out that this may become a reoccuring show, as the farm team baseball field is down the road and each night that they win (on the weekends only)- there will be a firework celebration. (so much for random fireworks...but i will it enjoy it none the less!)
