the pending exam

as of today, i have about 29 days to prepare myself for the design union exam (interview) that i will be taking the end of september.

so far i have sent in my application, called to secure an interview time and sent out all my packets to my references.....

this is a huge step in my career, so it all makes me a little nervous, but i know that i am ready....as soon as i draft everything and re-do my protfolio and then i guess i will be ready.

i will keep everyone posted and the countdown updated.
and if anyone is in the new york area on the night of sept. 25th...i think i am going to need a drink!

back to the city

travel log.....

after spending the majority of july in new york, i managed to make it back to florida for about a week before being called out for a job...back in new york

so tomorrow, i head back to florida to see how long it will be before i make my way back to nyc

old irrate italian man?

today on my way home from work, i stopped at the local supermarket to get dinner....little did i know what the grocery had in store for me.

a perfectly normal, unassuming trip to the grocery store was interrupted in the frozen food department (which is right next to the produce section) where i was mildly berated by an old irrate italian man as he slung his nectarins into a plastic bag....i assume he was italian because as he raised his voice to utter what could have been complete nonsense or some prophetic statement, all it could make out was "italia"....

why he was screaming at or to me, i will never know....

maybe he was cursing the fact that i was reaching in the cold case for some meatless meatballs (made of tofu or something like that)....something simply unheard of in "italia"

maybe he was praising the nectarins he was piling into his bag and wanted to share his love of this summer fruit

maybe he was belatedly cheering for the world cup soccer winners "italia"

pondering his outburst i made my way through the check out and out to my car and caught a final glimpse of the screaming italian as he tied his bag of mostly ripe nectarins to the front handle bars of a white beach cruiser bike with white walled tires

and as he tied he muttered and spit. more words making there way out into the world with no one around to interpret. i wondered how long he had lived his life this way.....riding his bike to the store to buy fruit, hollering at unsuspecting customers and possibly dreaming about his life back in old "italia"

only in florida.....

land so flat that there are actual sod farms.....farms for grass.....acres and acres of grass as far as one can see....and in the flat middle section of florida that is pretty far

palm tree nurseries...miles of rows of palm trees waiting to find new homes

rest stop restrooms that smell ....of coconut sunscreen

coconut squares flavored like key lime and orange

new car road trip

over the past weeks i have had many a road trips...from florida to nyc to oak hill, ny to washington dc to savannah to tampa and then on to west palm beach and then fort lauderdale....

a new car with 8000+ miles in less than than 3 months......uggghhhh
